Theses oldies-but-goodies have stood the test of time:

Fwoosh!
Use a rubber band to tie down the trigger on a sink's hand-sprayer attachment. Leave the sprayer in its housing, pointed toward the front of the sink. Next person who turns on the sink will get an impromptu shower.

Untidy Bowl
Stretch a sheet of plastic wrap tightly across the toilet bowl (under the seat). Don't forget that you've done this, or the joke will be on you!

The Works
Poke small holes inpackets of ketchup, mustard, relish, honey, and place the packets underneath the toilet seat with the holes pointing in. Be sure they're under the seat pads so that they get squished when someone sits down.

Slick as Snot
Vaseline is gooey, slippery, and feels completely disgusting to anyone who doesn't know what it is they're touching. It's also practically impossible to get a grip on any object covered in Vaseline, so for a good laugh smear Vaseline on:

• door knobs
• car door handles
• lamp knobs
• tooth/hair brush handles
• phones
• light switches

Crank it
An easy trick to play on friends when you visit their homes -- when they're out of the room, start turning up the volume on any device you can -- the television, stereo, phone ringer, alarm clocks -- but leave them turned off. With luck, you'll be long gone before they figure out what happened.

All-Time Classic Practical Joke: The Bucket
The classics never get old. Prop a bucket filled with ice water, confetti, or ping-pong balls (depending on the specific amount of mess and aggravation you wish to cause) on top of a slightly-ajar door. Be sure to use a lightweight bucket to avoid injuring your victim.

All-Time Classic Practical Joke: The Short Sheet
Harmless, timeless, brilliant. Take the covers and pillows of the victim's bed and remove the top sheet. Reverse the sheet so that the "foot" (unhemmed) edge is now at the head of the bed, and tuck that end in tightly. Fold the sheet back up on itself so that the "head" (hemmed) edge rests right where it would normally be. Tuck in the sides of the sheet snugly, and replace the blankets and pillows just as they were.
